It was a great achievement for me to shoot for such a renowned brand. I have to admit I was nervous initially but that didn't last long as sheer excitement and enthusiasm kicked in and then it was just smooth sailing. It's been a while since I last posted anything on my blog. Life has been busy and time seems to fly by so fast. It's already nearing the end of the year and I'm still trying to figure our where did all those days go. Anyway just recently had an opportunity to attend my friends wedding in Sg. Petani, Kedah. It was my first Indian wedding, and I wasn't really sure what to expect here are some photos from the hightslight of the day of registration and the evening reception of Abs and Sujen.

Photos are raw with now enchancements. Prabably take some and convert them to B&W later on.

ACDSee Pro 3 beta

ACD Systems has just launched the latest beta version of it's image browsing software called ACDSEE Pro 3 Beta. The latest software will feature an enhanced user interface, online publishing tool and advanced image processing functions. The image editor will be able to edit most file formats. The full version is set to be released in Autum 2009.

Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D

Believe it or not Fujifilm has been talking about their concept the 3D camera since photokina 2008. Soon you will be able to get your very own 3D camera for USD $600, it sounds pretty expensive. But we will just have to see how good this camera is to justify the price, when it comes out in September later this year.

As you can see the camera will come with 2 separate sensors and lenses in order to produce the 3d images. Can't wait to see how it works.

My friend called in a favour to shoot her Juicy collection as she wanted to post some pictures of her blog. The pictures have been lying in my hard drive doing nothing, so though I would just post them up.

If you add all those boxes together you can afford a brand new full frame DSLR and get a new lense and maybe add in an extra polarize filter as well while you're add it.

Oh socks, yes these are worth just as much as a good second hand 50mm f1.8 lense. Shishhh who would buy such expensive socks, oh ya she did.

Simple and straight to the point packaging probably the best way to sell products these days. Same goes of Apple.

Understanding Camera Sensor Sizes for DSLRs

It has become a trend in today's modern society to own a DSLR (Digital Single Lense Reflex) camera and everyone raves on how many mega pixels they have on their latest camera, however more mega pixel doesn't necessarily mean better photos. One characteristice of digital cameras that many people ignore or are unaware of is the sensor sizes.

standard 35mm film

In the days of taking photographs using film it was fairly straight forward, the standard for consumer and prosumer cameras were the 35mm film. Which is basically the film that we used to load in our cameras before taking pictures at a birtday partys.

Today film has been replaced with digital sensors either a CMOS or CCD sensors. Now to make things are more complicated, these sensors come in different sizes and mega pixels. The reason being to either keep the price down or to have the camera smaller in size.

Overview

Lets have a look at the diagram above which we can now fully visualize the difference in sensor sizes of our cameras. To make it easier for everyone to relate to the diagram, we shall list the some of the cameras available in the market today and what sensor size do they have.

Crop Factor & Focal Length Multiplication
According to the diagram above we have listed down the crop factors of the different categories of sensors. Now to show the effects of crop factors we can look at the picture below

Full frame angle

Essentially crop factor describes the sensor's width ratio in reference to a full frame 35mm sensor. It is important to know and understand the crop factor of ones cameras as it effects the angel of a lense that you are using. This will now be a bit technical, bare with me here.

Lets say Leena just bought a Nikon D5000( 1.5x crop sensor) and attached a 50mm f1.8 lense to the camera. This means she is using the lense on a 1.5x crop factor lense which will produce the same field of view as a 1.5x50 = 75mm lense on a full frame sensor.

Remember the calculation for the next time you wish you invest in a new lense or camera. It might be confusing at first but once you talk to people or ask around things will be clearer.

Final Thoughts

The sensor size will also effect the quality of the picture, as smaller sensors tend to have more noise or grain. Just try taking a picture with 2 different cameras with the same mega pixels but different sensor size, you will notice that the camera with a larger sensor has less noise. Another way just use your camera phone and compare it to a DSLR or even a compact camera. This concludes the basic understanding of camera sensors sizes, hope it will be helpful.

This picture was taken at on the PLUS highway, somwhere near Bukit Merah. Picture taken in southern Sweden, nearby a small town called Angelholm. Bad weather doest mean bad pictures.

Another picture from Sweden, where an old bicycle was dumped in the grass on the side of the small and winding country road.

Nikon D300s leaked photos and videos

Rumours has been circulationg the internet of Nikon's latest semi-pro camera the Nikon D300s. We can now almost confirm that the company will realease the updated version of the D300 very soon. As seen in this video the manual for the D300s is already leaked along with photos from the LCD screen.

The biggest difference that we can expect in comparison with its predecessor would be ability to record HD videos, built in microphone and dual SD and CF slots. I do believe it will have the same capability as the D90, recording videos at 720p.
